OUR WORK WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Recognising that local councils are the level of government closest to communities, Reconciliation Victoria collaborates with the state’s 79 councils to encourage strong relationships between governments and their local Aboriginal communities.

Local councils are well-placed to work with Aboriginal communities to drive positive change in areas such as employment and economic development, health and wellbeing, recognition and respect, civic participation, access to land, and protection of cultural heritage.

MAGGOLEE

Maggolee (‘here in this place‘ in Woi wurrung) is an online platform that celebrates excellence and supports good practice among Victorian local councils engaging with Aboriginal communities and advancing reconciliation.

It is a resource that promotes cultural awareness and includes information on policy, programs and protocols, key organisations and contacts, local demographic data, latest news and events, enabling local councils to work more closely with local Aboriginal communities.
