Melbourne Grammar School

Reconciliation Victoria Education Officer Sarah Joyce spoke at Melbourne Grammer to students (preps-grade 6) at their Reconciliation Week assembly about the importance of using their Voice.

A few words about the week at Melbourne Grammer from the kids!  “We are the Year 6 Service team at Melbourne Grammar School Grimwade House known as the ‘RAP’ team. Reconciliation week is a special week to us. It is one where we get to learn more First Nations history and culture, we go on The Long Walk and to the Dreamtime game, we host the Reconciliation Assembly and the First Nations boys from Senior School come down to share their stories and teach us how to ‘shake a leg’. It makes us very proud.”

Our Education Officer also attended one of Reservoir High’s Reconciliation Week events, where Jamie Bennell, Indigenous Player Development Manager & Head of Indigenous Affairs,·Hawthorn Football Club spoke to the school. We also got a tour and were shown how culture is embedded in many creative and real ways across the school.
