Reconciliation Victoria were invited by YMCA to present a workshop on embedding First Nations' perspectives into Early Learning in partnership with Aunty Karen Lovett (Gunditjmara) in Mernda on Wurundjeri Country.

The workshop was a great success with Aunty Karen holding a yarning circle with Educational Leads from all over Victoria that challenged them to consider where they were on their own cultural learning journey and how their personal understanding and knowledge impacts their teaching practice.

Aunty Karen shared her own unique story and cultural learning journey before quizzing the participants about Victorian Aboriginal cultures and history.

Reconciliation Victoria are proud to work in partnership with Aboriginal change makers like Aunty Karen to deliver workshops that challenge perceptions, broaden understanding and create much needed connection points between Aboriginal and non-Indigenous communities.

We received beautiful feedback from participants on how much they appreciated Aunty Karen’s story, gentle delivery and safe learning environment.
