Reconciliation Victoria is excited to welcome Maria Fletcher-Dugan as the new First Nations Co-Chair of our Board. She joins Professor Andrew Gunstone to lead our Board into 2024.
Maria is a proud Islander woman with connection to land and sea from Sai Bai Island in the Torres Straits to Papua New Guinea.
Maria is a Human Resources Business Partner and a passionate values-based leader with over 10 years’ experience working across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.
She brings an exceptional track record in delivering strong outcomes for sustainable employment and development pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples along with embedding culturally safe and supportive practices. Maria is a strategic and results-oriented leader who enjoys collaborative relationships with organisations, communities, and stakeholders, and has a reputation fore ngagement, project management and building cultural strategies. She is also a qualified Human Resources professional, holds a degree in Business (HRM).
At a pivotal time for the reconciliation movement in Victoria, we are excited for Maria’s input, knowledge, and strong guidance. Co-Chair, Professor Andrew Gunstone, says:

Maria has been a valued Reconciliation Victoria non-executive Board member since August 2022 and, with her appointment to the Co-Chair role, she seeks to contribute skills and knowledge to support reconciliation objectives acrossVictoria. All in an effort to promote deeper understanding, respect, and justice for and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
