Thank you to members and supporters who joined Reconciliation Victoria and ANTaR Victoria’s combined AGM and Forum on Saturday 2 December. Held at the brand new Moonee Valley City Council Djerring Flemington Community Hub, the event opened with a warm Welcome to Country from Wurundjeri emerging leader, Alex Kerr.
Following the official proceedings, we held a panel discussion around the theme of Where to from here? Looking at reconciliation in the post-referendum landscape and how reconciliation supporters and First Peoples can work together to continue to strengthen the path towards Treaties and Truth-telling in Victoria.
Chaired by the founder of Victorian Aboriginal News, Uncle Charles Pakana, the panel featured Uncle Andrew Gardiner, Wurundjeri reserved seat holder with the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, Shaun Middlebrook, Social and Emotional Wellbeing Manager with Yoorrook Justice Commission, Rec Vic Co-Chair Professor Andrew Gunstone, and ANTaR Vic Co-chair Peter Lewis. The conversation was insightful and honest and provided attendees takeaway actions.
Thank you to the wonderful panellists who provided a great discussion, to Uncle Charles Pakana for steering the conversation and event, to PAWA catering for the delicious food and to the Rec Vic Board, Cultural Council, and ANTaR Victoria Board and staff for helping to make the day a success.
