Victorian Aboriginal News and Reconciliation Victoria recently partnered to proudly co-host the launch of The Leader Tape series at TOMS Place, Brunswick.
The Leader Tapes project promotes respectful Aboriginal leadership and centres on the significant contributions of Victorian Elders and leaders.
The launch was a powerful and memorable occasion, attended by Victorian Elders who featured in the Leader Tapes, including Uncle Bill Nicholson, Aunty Esme Bamblett, Uncle Col Clark, and Uncle Herb Patten.
Victorian Aboriginal News (VAN) founder and lead journalist, Uncle Charles Pakana said:
“It was an absolute privilege and pleasure to develop the series, and to work with so many great leaders who have worked tirelessly in their commitment to community and supporting progress in areas of self-determination, truth-telling, education, Treaty and community strength.”
Alongside the Elders in the series, the launch was attended by other significant Leaders of the Victorian Aboriginal community, members of Reconciliation Victoria’s Cultural Council and Board, and representatives from Federal, State and Local Government.
