UPDATED STATEMENT ON RECONCILIATION VICTORIA AND UNCLE GLENN LOUGHREY 11 APRIL 2025

11 April 2025. After a meeting with the extended Board and its Cultural Council, Reconciliation Victoria is today announcing that Uncle Glenn Loughrey will step down as co-chair of Reconciliation Victoria.

Our initial instinct was to support Uncle Glenn given his long service to First Nations issues and reconciliation, but upon broader consultation with the Board, Cultural Council, and Uncle Glenn, it was decided that the social media post Uncle Glenn made was incompatible with the mission of Reconciliation Victoria, and a potential impediment to reconciliation efforts. A mutually agreed decision was therefore made to part company.

Reconciliation Victoria will continue to work with community groups, businesses, local governments, education providers and others to help bring about reconciliation in Victoria.

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters of Victoria.
